Our founders, Ben and Alistair, lead every engagement, supported by a network of Perth-based specialists averaging more than 25 years' experience.

Ben Arnold

Founder and Director

Ben has extensive international experience in risk management, internal audit, governance and process improvement, built over more than 25 years. He is the founder and director at A&P Advisory and previously held management and supervisory positions at BHP, KBR and the Office of the Auditor General.

Ben is currently the Independent Chair of the Audit, Risk and Performance Committee at the Construction Training Fund and an Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member at the Mental Health Commission. He has previously served on the Audit and Risk Committees of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia, the Town of East Fremantle, the City of Fremantle and Amnesty International (Australia), and as Vice President of the ACFE WA Chapter, WA Council Member for the IIA Australia, Treasurer of the Southern Forests Food Council and Museums Australia (WA), and Secretary of the Consumer Credit Legal Society.

Ben has contributed to industry thought leadership, including authoring a number of publications for Internal Auditor, speaking engagements for the Institute of Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Institute of Internal Auditors, and course lecturing for the Governance Institute of Australia.

Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA); Bachelor of Commerce (BComm), Murdoch University.

Previously held: Fellow of the Governance Institute (FGIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Alistair Purt

Founder and Director

Alistair has extensive international experience in risk management, governance and internal audit, built over more than 25 years across Big Four advisory and in-house audit in the UK and Australia. He is a founder and director at A&P Advisory and previously held senior positions at PwC, KPMG and BG Group.

Before founding A&P Advisory, Alistair was a Director at PwC and an Associate Director at KPMG, advising organisations on risk, governance and internal audit. He led business risk audit at BG Group, a FTSE-listed global oil and gas company, and began his career in internal audit at Halliburton, gaining a grounding in the operational and project risks of the energy sector. Today he leads internal audit, risk and governance engagements for government and resources clients, helping them build frameworks and governance structures that hold up through change.

Alistair has contributed to industry thought leadership, including co-authoring Risky Relationships, on third-party risk, for Internal Auditor, co-presenting the IIA WA State Conference workshop on assurance mapping, and speaking engagements for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
